Liver 3D cell culture model in SeedEZ

Liver specific functions, expression and secretion of drug metabolizing enzymes decline rapidly in 2D culturing conditions. Studies suggest that by culturing liver cells in 3D as organotypic aggregates preserves these functions. In this video, you will see how HepG2 human hepatocellular carcinoma cells grow in 3D, in SeedEZ, for up to 4 weeks. After 1 week in culture, 3D cell aggregates continue to grow and merge forming larger hepatospheres. In 3-4 weeks an engineered liver tissue is formed in SeedEZ.
