When spinning down precipitant in microplates (like 96 well plates), many labs have grown accustomed to using their large centrifuge with a special microplate rotor.
The trouble is, this is a lot of wear and tear for an activity that could equally be done as well with a smaller tool. There are now several centrifuge devices on the market that do just this.
Each is designed to hold up to two plates at a time, although there are some subtle differences.
