NEST Scientific AMIES transport medium (ATM) can be stored at room temperature (5 to 25C) for up to twelve months. 

Following induction of sample to the AMIES transport medium, samples may remain viable for up to 48 hours at room or refrigerated temperatures.

Delicate bacterial pathogens like Neisseria gonorrhoeae Haemophilus influenzae, Neisseria meningitidis, and Haemophilus ducreyi will survive up to 24 hours per CLSI standard).

Use NEST Scientific AMIES transport medium for molecular testing, gram stains and rapid antigen tests.

This 5mL sterile vial features a unique capture cap to safely lock the swab in place following insertion into the AMIES medium. 

Bend the swab to snap at the 83mm breakpoint and slowly twist the cap into place. The handle end of the swab will slip into the cavity in the cap, capturing it securely without any human intervention or contact. 

NEST Scientific AMIES transport media collection kits feature a nylon flocked swab head for excellent sample collection and release when inserted into medium. 

NEST Scientific AMIES transport media collection kits are also available with standard (no capture cap) 5mL and 10mL sterile tubes with nasopharyngeal or oropharyngeal swabs and up to 3mL of AMIES transport medium (ATM).
